On August 2, 2007 the United State Senate gave the entire nation a very grand and beautiful gift: Bourbon Heritage Month. That’s right ladies, the whole month of September has been deemed an official observance in the United States that not only calls for, but encourages, the celebration of bourbon.
America’s “Native Spirit deserves to have it’s own month of dedication for many, many reasons;  it’s deep-rooted legacy, all of the heritage and tradition it holds, the amount of jobs the industry creates, not to mention all of the precious moments and long-lasting connections the spirit helps facilitate- the list goes on and on. This month, it is our job to help honor and show appreciation for all of the joy bourbon brings into our life on a year-round basis. We’ll be showing our love for this fine spirit on the site all month long, but we need you to join in on the festivities, too.
So, what’s the best way to celebrate Bourbon Heritage month you ask? Great question!Â
First, you can always go out and buy a bottle of bourbon. Whether it be your favorite go-to label or a new small-batch, head to your local spirits store and pick something out to sip and savor this month.
If you’re more of a social creature, or perhaps you just enjoy bourbon in a well-balanced, hand-crafted cocktail, we suggest heading to your favorite bar and sitting down with the bartender. Ask them to mix up a cocktail in celebration of Bourbon Month and see what comes your way. Then, if you’re lucky and they just so happen to be a Bourbon lover themselves, you can talk the night away about how great the spirit is and the memories it has created.
And finally, check with local bars and restaurants to see if they will be hosting any special Bourbon Month events. These events are great for getting your hands on some rare and unusual bourbons as well as connecting with other like-minded people. We’ll be attending the festivities all month long at St. John’s Restaurant and Meeting Place. If you happen to be in Chattanooga, Tennessee, we would love for you to join us! And if not, we’ll be sure to write about our experiences and share with you.
